Awesome barrel and pole bending gelding

30002 USD

Redman is a 7yr old 15.2hh grade sorrel gelding. He was purchased to be my 17 yr old's barrel / 4-H / playday horse, but my son has decided to concentrate on baseball instead. So now I have a gorgeous, talented, athletic, and extremely fast gelding going to waste in my pasture. Redman is a patterned 1D/2D barrel horse and 20-22 second poles horse. He had been off for a couple years before we bought him as his previous rider had gone into the coast guard. We bought him in November 2014, but wasn't able to start him back to riding on a consistent basis until the end of January 2015 due to an extended illness and death in our family. He is now ridden 2-3 times per week, weather permitting. He is slow loping the patterns and asking for us to let him speed up. He knows the patterns, but after being off so long, I want to be sure he has a solid foundation again. He also knows all the playday/gymkhana patterns as well. HE IS WICKED FAST. He was to be shown in speed events as well as in 4-H halter, showmanship, and reining due to his near perfect conformation and excellent handle. He has an awesome one handed neck rein, a solid reverse, and will stop on a dime. Redman will trail ride and has a fast walk/slow prance; he doesn't spook easily around dogs, goats, bouncing balls, kids or cars while riding down the road. He has no alley issues and will walk in/out of an arena; however he is a hot and on the muscle during a run, so the rider needs to be experienced and know how to handle a hot arena horse. He is current on vaccinations, coggins, and recently had his teeth floated. He leads, loads, stands for the farrier without issue. He has a few vices after being off so long which I am working on, and he is coming out of them as well as he is ridden more consistently. He will occasionally crow hop (not buck) when he is nervous or wants to run and you keep him contained, no rear, but will try to bite and may kick out just a little while being saddled and cinched (just tie him short, let him know who is in control and you have no problem). Redman is for an experienced and calm rider who wants to win or an advanced intermediate rider. This is not a beginner rider horse, so please don't ask if you can put your child on him unless they know what they are doing. My 13yr old daughter can ride him, but she has been riding since she was 4yrs old. He much prefers women over men. He has a loving, intelligent, playful personality, and he loves to be petted and groomed. You can lay down on him when he is laying down as well. He is located outside of Graham, Texas 76450, and we have access to a local arena for you to try him out. I am asking $3000 and I am open to offers for someone that will give him a great home, love, and attention. As I continue his refresher/retraining course, his price will go up accordingly. Please message me if you need further information or call me at (I work nights and day sleep, so my answers to you will probably be in the early morning hours)
